Have I mentioned that I love Japan? I am fascinated with all things Japanese, probably because I have a Japanese middle name and had to explain it often enough that I got curious about all things Japanese, and how funky fresh and different Japan is from the USA.
So I say this with love and respect: some Japanese video games are WEIRD. WEIRD in a way that is AWESOME. SO Awesome that if I could buy this game for Candy, I so would, because I know nothing would make her Bitch panties twist with glee like the opportunity to wipe the sweat putules off of lean, androgynous Japanese cartoon dudes.
Note that I didn’t say it was GOOD music. I leave that to you to decide. But since these are songs and videos, consider this not the most work-friendly edition of Friday Videos there ever was. Of course, are there any videos that are work-friendly?
First, from Lara, we have a 19 year old Kate Bush singing “Wuthering Heights” in some sort of mirror bottomed set for her interpretive dance. There’s eyeliner and some really nice manicure action, and cartwheels. I suggest practicing your ‘huh?’ face before you watch.
And from notpomaceous, we have:
“One word: Gino. Or four words: Gino and his hair. I love him in all my glands. He’s a study in contradiction: laconic, yet sweats like a raging bull; motionless, except for his buoyant left arm (which uncannily resembles that of Inspector Kemp in “Young Frankenstein"); white...yet black; straight...yet gay; on stage in front of thousands of people...in his pajamas.”
And if that just gets stuck in your head and you can’t shake it loose, check this out. We may have posted it before, but it’s still worth cleansing your ear passages because it’s uber uber leet.
But if you are Pittsburghly curious, March 20 has been designated “Won’t You Wear Your Sweater Day” in honor of what would have been Fred Rogers’ 80th Birthday. Mr. McFeeley is here to tell you more:
What, that wasn’t enough schmaltz for you? Ha. I hit you in the tear ducts now! Hee yah!
And because I’m from the town with the great football team, one more: Myron Cope, longtime Pittsburgh Steelers broadcaster and possessed of the most bizarre yet infectious radio voice and personality, died Wednesday at the age of 79. Cope was a fantastic sportswriter and a color commentator for the Steelers radio broadcast for 35 years. Cope invented the Terrible Towel, which he talks about in the slightly bizarre ESPN video below. There are two Terrible Towels hanging in our house from the window shades in the living room, much to the dismay of houseguests unfamiliar with the Towel.

I must have been off-line the “controversy” about bloggers attending came up, because I honestly don’t remember it. If they want to come, great. I mean, I’ve brought my mom to the last two conferences, paid for her registration so…
