MoreReferrerMadness!

by Candy Wednesday, February 23, 2005 at 09:41 AM

I love looking at the referrer log for this page. Because of the rampant potty-mouth and our choice of domain name, I suspect 95% of our visitors are just confused. as. hell when they click on this particular Google result. “But where are the pictures of the hot bitches humping?” they probably cry into the depths of the night. But no reply awaits them, alas, alas. Just a couple of smart-mouthed chippies talking endlessly about romance novels.

So other search engine results that somehow or the other point unsuspecting schmucks to this website:

  • Gay Dominican cock (now talk about being REALLY disappointed when they actually see what this site is about)
  • Bitches humping bitches (I need to use another term besides “hump"--maybe screw? Bone? Pork? Give her the ole in-out, in-out? Walk the ferret? Spelunk for treasure?)
  • Books about good and vs. evil in Moby Dick (the poor schmuck trying to find help for her college writing assignment was all outta luck, I’m afraid)
  • Blog romance novel published (GOOD GOD, finally, a relevant search result! I’m swooning! Catch me! *splat*)
  • And a bunch of referrals from a series of German porn sites.

So once again, I will mention romance novels and romance novel reviews because this site is really allll about what we love and hate about romance books. Not that it’ll do any good. But I gotta keep trying.

BetMe

by SB Sarah Saturday, February 19, 2005 at 07:18 AM

It is too early for a full review, but I am so happy reading “Bet Me” by Jennifer Crusie, after reading several mediocre romance novels, that I had to share. Is there a, “YAY FINALLY” rating on this site? Because that’s what I’d give this book.

IWISHIwasdreamingofJeannie,butinsteadIdreamaboutthisdamnbook

by Candy Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at 09:36 AM

I had a nightmare this morning while snoozing after my alarm clock went off. I dreamt I was still reading The Real Deal, and the descriptions of Simon’s gunmetal gaze were driving me batshit. Then my cats woke me up for realz. I can’t even tell you how relieved I was when I realized:

a) I have finished The Real Deal; and
b) I have returned it to the library.

Yes, this is how bad the book is. It’s so bad that my subconscious has decided to use it to punish me for whatever infractions I’ve committed lately. Maybe using the word “cock” one too many times, I don’t know. I’ve never dreamt about bad books before. I’ve had dreams in which I was reading; these mostly happen when I fall asleep while in the middle of a book. But never a dream in which I was actively thinking “GOOD GOD when is this book going to end?”

HappyValentine’sDay!

by Candy Monday, February 14, 2005 at 07:28 AM

Happy Valentine’s Day, fellow smart bitches and any smart bastards who may stumble across this site in the search of trashy and/or smart and/or Dominican bitches. Put on one of the B’s (Bach, Barry, Burt--see, a little something for everyone), wear somethin’ slinky, eat some good food and have a good time. If you’re single: this goes double for you. Pamper yourself today, and fuck ‘em. Fuck ‘em all.

Moreblabbingaboutmusic

by Candy Monday, February 14, 2005 at 12:21 AM

I just got back from seeing the froofy lads of Interpol at the Roseland Theater. They are indeed delicious. Listening to their music makes my chest ache in the nicest way, and seeing them live intensifies it greatly. The feeling is very similar to the early stages of falling in love, but without the uncertainty and emotional risk. And ultimately, without the emotional fulfillment as well, but ah well, you can’t have everything, even if the band has a bass player who looks uncannily like Crispin Glover’s skeletal younger brother as illustrated by Edward Gorey.

Carlos the Skeletal Carlos the Red

But my biggest crushy-crush is on the lead singer. He has a beyoootiful voice.

I heart Paul, he's dreamy

Cute, too, no?

This has nothing to do with romance novels, other than the fact that their music inspires all sorts of love stories when I listen to them. Too bad I can’t write fiction worth a shit, because otherwise I’d be set.

Other musicians who induce a similar sort of pleasant achiness when I listen to them include PJ Harvey (let me state for the record that I, who love cock in all its firm, fleshy wonderfulness, would give up cock forever for Polly Jean if for some reason she developed a yearning for chubby little Chinese girls), Franz Ferdinand, Nada Surf’s Let Go, and oddly enough, Beck (who has a new album coming out March 29th, yay!).
