AdChallengeIII:ThisTime,It’sPersonal

As with the previous two contests: Guess the character’s name, the title of the novel and the author in the comments, and the first person to get everything right will be bestowed with a unique, hand-crafted, guaranteed sweatshop-free title. Smart Bitches, Inc. is a Fair Trade-certified organization. (OK, that last bit is a lie. But we would be, if we actually sold anything. Or were actually, y’know, incorporated.)

FORGET TINA TURNER: WE DO NEED ANOTHER A HERO

Shy princess of small European principality seeks noble, courageous, well-decorated military hero for assistance in progressive nation-building exercise. Must be ready to weather adversity, up to and including imprisonment, shipwreck and rebellion. Fondness for zaftig white girls a plus. PTSD OK.

Hmmm, this sounds suspiciously like Princess Olympia St.Ledger from Laura Kinsale’s Seize the Fire…

eeep! Might help if I could spell the freakin name correctly… St. Leger/St. Ledger—whatever...close enough for Government work…

YES! Congratulations. And to tell you the truth, I didn’t remember Olympia’s last name, so really, you get bonus Smart Bitchery points for being only one letter off.

Award ceremony will be at 12:15-ish PDT.

Wow, bonus points. I hope this means my title will be extra bitchy! (Is it wrong that I am taking time out of edits to answer Romance heroine personals? Possibly. But if this is wrong I don’t wanna be right!)

I love the idea of Bitchery points. Can we redeem them later when we want to let fly at the stupid lady on the train who stands in front of the door?

And no, it is not wrong that you are taking time out of edits to answer personals. However, I am astonished at how quick y’all guess the answers. I’m going to have to go buy a Harlequin at the used book store from 1989 and stump you all.

And smirk at the references to tiny waists belted with wide elastic belts, and giant shoulder pads. I love when old series romance describe the character’s wardrobes. Heh.
