Thanks to Kate for alerting me to the Hurricane Katrina Direct Relief blog. If you want to volunteer in the area, if you want to cut through the red tape and ship supplies directly to shelters, if you want to know up-to-date info on where assorted mail services can and can’t deliver to, if you want to know what supplies the shelters currently need, read this blog.

I’ve sent this link to a couple of listservs I’m on.  We’re not a rich bunch, but the blog gives ways we can help out and feel we’re doing more good than simply handing cash to the Red Cross.

My office would be the coolest place ever, if not for the actual work they expect of me.  See, not only are they matching contributions, they’re also now collecting boxes of stuff to mail to shelters, thanks to the lists I printed off this site.  Awesome Katrina blog, indeed!
