DABWAHA 2010: It’s Selection Time!

UPDATE: Site is working now. “ENTER YOUR PICKS” link is right next to the “Contact” but in case something goes screwy, the direct link is below or if you go to “http://dabwaha.com“, the “PICK YOUR BRACKET” button goes directly to the bracket page.

2010 DABWAHALadies and gentleman, it’s DA BWAHA 2010 TIME. You can see all the books who made the slate of 64 at DABWAHA.com, and read about the prizes at the DABWAHA blog.

And now… it’s time to pick your brackets! And read a truly informative and utterly important FAQ.

How do I enter my picks?

PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THE FOLLOWING WORDS.

To enter your picks, click ENTER YOUR PICKS in the top menu.

Then, at the top right, select “NEW” and enter your name LAST, FIRST. i.e. “Litte, Jane,” or “Sarah, Smart Bitch.”

Enter your email address in the box provided.

Make your picks by clicking on the title you think will win each competition.

Enter the tiebreaker, which is the total number of entries in the main tournament. (Yes, we know it says ‘points’ – more on that in a minute.)

This is the important part: when you click “SUBMIT PICKS” in the bottom left, your entry will not appear right away.

Let me say that again: Your entry will not appear right away.

But whyyyyyy am I not seeing my entry right away?

Because each entry is stored off line and must be compiled and uploaded into the server in batches. This is done manually. By Jane. So she’ll collect the entries in groups through the selection period and upload them in groups.

What’s the deadline for making my selections?

8:00 pm, Eastern Time, Wednesday 17 March 2010.
Ready to make your picks? Head on over to check out the 2010 DA BWAHA Tournament Bracket.

I guess I will use the “Einey, Meeney, Miney, Moe” to chose some of these first round matchups.  This seems harder than last year.

  2. Kelly S says:

Just to clarify, the FAQ is the page you land on when you go here:

    http://dabwaha.com/2010_Tournament/website/default.html

right?  Since there wasn’t an actualy FAQ link on either the blog or the other page.  This is my first year playing and I don’t want to mess up.

    Thanks!

  3. Elizabeth Krentz-Wee says:

Okay, so I am one of those who didn’t play last year, and has never participated in any kind of fantasy league (I think that’s what they are called).
    I’ve entered my picks.
They appeared on a screen that allowed me to print out what I’ve chosen.
    1. There’s a little box that says “Did you make the right picks?”—I assume that’s for the very end
    2. How does this scoring work? I know this is obvious to everyone else, but do you get points for each match of each round that you get right? I put in a number for the tie breaker, but since I have no clue on how points work, that was a wild guess.

  4. I’ll admit I just came over here to see the link to the loveliness that is my book making the slate. On Smart Bitches, huzzah! Fame at last…

  5. JoanneL says:

    FOUL!!!

I’m calling foul on all the categories except YA & UF
(‘cause I don’t read them— but I read Patricia Briggs so I had that single book to vote for—- and YA I went with the single title I remember being reviewed… somewhere—with some type of rating… sigh..)

    Anyway: Foul!

    Goodman against Ashley?
    MY Lawman against MY Madman?
    MY Roarke against MY Archangel?

    FOUL!!!

  6. Kat Sheridan says:

OK, all I really want to know is, what does DABWAHA stand for?

  7. Maggie says:

Went with the Einey, Meeney, Miney, Moe method for a couple 1st round picks as well, because I hadn’t read some of them so I had no idea which one to go with.

  8. rebyj says:

Kat, DA BWAHA, Dear Author Bitchery Writing Award for Hellagood Authors

  9. Tae/Booklust says:

seriously, did you have to put the two Patty Briggs books so close together early on?  I couldn’t decide which one to vote for!

spam word over27, and my birthday is coming up and I’m definitely over 27

  10. Lyssa says:

Yeah, I had to pick briggs vs briggs…singh vs singh…soooo hard! It really forced me to make some hard decisions. So I based those off DIK criteria (If you were allowed one of them on a Deserted island which one would you choose?)

  11. emdee says:

I didn’t do this last year because I didn’t understand it.  I don’t bet on the March Madness thing.  Your instructions sounded reasonable.  I went over, registered and made my pics.  I made a pick for every pair in round one.  When I tried to submit, it said I must make a selection for every game.  But I did, and I even filled in a tie breaker number.  WTF?

  12. Jordan says:

    emdee –

You have to fill in all the brackets for all the games.  Meaning, you project the eventual winner of the entire tournament.

  13. MarieC says:

This is my first playing but ‘Shout out’ to Jane!!!

Because each entry is stored off line and must be compiled and uploaded into the server in batches. This is done manually. By Jane.

Some of the match ups were hard!

  14. Tamara Hogan says:

1st round, Roarke vs. Riley?  2nd round, Roarke vs. Raphael?  SUCKS.

  15. Marisa says:

Sorry, I don’t see the link “Enter your pick” at the menu where all the selections are. Do you think I have any problem with my browser? Or is it geographically restricted?

  16. Silverflame says:

Yep, I’m having the same problem, marisa

  17. Olivia says:

I too cannot find an Enter Your Pick link. I just keep going back and forth, glad I am not the only one because I thought maybe I was going crazy….

  18. Rene says:

I can’t find it either.  I can pull up the “Tournament Picks” sheet, but I can’t actually fill it out.  Any hints as to what I’m doing wrong?

  19. Bethanya says:

It’s not there. I hope there is not a virus that someone rigged.

  20. SB Sarah says:

Hey folks: there was a problem but Jane fixed it. From her site:
