Just read my “Defenders of Wildlife” newsletter. I’d heard about the Cassie Edwards flap, but not about all the dough raised in support of Ferrets. Y’all done good.

After reading the lifted passages in the Newsweek article, I wondered why the book’s editor didn’t notice that: (a) the material seemed rather odd, conversation-wise, during the afterglow of sex, and (b) the tone of these phrases in the manuscript didn’t appear out of place in terms of both style and content.

Malcolm, I’m going to venture a guess that by the time the book in question was being edited, the Powers That Be figured it was just a quirk of her particular style.  Especially (if you take the time to slog through the rest of the material in the CE flap) you’ll see that it’s something that appears to have been going on for some time, these passages that were markedly different in style than the rest of her narrative.
