Ever eat something so sweet your teeth actually hurt from the incredible amounts of delicious savory sugar rolling about in your mouth? Your brain will get that feeling watching this Swedish children’s song set to some absolutely adorable kitty footage. Thanks to Jessica Andersen for the link.

But wait, there’s more from the Overly-saccharine Department of Video!

Well whatever you think of the music, don’t worry about the horse. Horses frequently form extremely close attachments to their barn buddies.  Many famous racehorses had their cats, chickens, llamas, etc. that calmed them and kept them company in all their travels.  I’ve heard that the old saying “I’ll get your goat,” refers to a threat of stealing a racehorse’s goat in order to upset it so badly that it would lose.

So add that to your store of useless knowledge (at least until you have an unhappy lonely horse, in which case buy a chicken if you can’t get hold of a cat.)

I drew a cat sitting on a horse’s back when I was in 7th grade--coz I was 12 and I loved cats and horses--but my art teacher said it was unrealistic. Take that!

@ Carrie Lofty:
What is it with *some* art teachers and their restrictive criticism of kids’ art?!?

Lol, the bitchery needz 2 helpz you with random videoz yas?

Right, let’s see how much of a big anime geek I am: I recognise The Melancholy of Haruhi there, I believe the first short might be from megatokyo but I can’t be sure, I think there was blurry shot of Fruits Basket, fan art of Sasuke from Naruto. There’s also that woman from the leek song (which anime would that be?)
Two sprites—one in the red suit—seem to be from Evangelion. There be the Mokuna from CLAMP.

And that’s it.

I’m a bigger geek than I thought I was, but still not quite there! Need to watch more, yas, MOAR.

Kittehs? OMGz we r one stepz from being old kittehladiez and then the tabloidz will comez and be liek ‘omgz look cats + romance = catladiehz lolz’

LOL.  (Shrugs) I thought it was diabetic shock-inducingly cute.  Then again, I don’t mind being a cliche now and then :)

I couldn’t take it. I made it to 21 seconds on the first video and 54 on the second one. Still, I now need therapy.

It’s gonna take me two more weeks to get the Caramell Dansen melody out of my head. So I decided to share the pain.

I think I’m about to prove my level of Otaku-ness. All the anime in the Caramell Dansen Vid:

The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi
Lucky Star
Misa and L from Death Note
Orihime from Bleach (the Leek girl)
Kare Kano
Strawberry Panic
Sasuke from Naruto
Air
Fruits Basket
Read or Die
Azumanga Daioh
Dance Dance Revolution
Hamtaro
FLCL
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Slayers
Dragon-Half
Mokona from Magic Knight Rayearth/Tsubasa
Akazukin Cha Cha
Ranma 1/2

And there’s still a few I couldn’t get, darn it. >.<

Gah, I thought it might be Air but I wasn’t sure! And I’ve watched RoD, why didn’t I recognise that? Nevermind… moar watching required.

It was killing my brain trying to remember the name of the dancing hamster, Hamtaro. Who is famous, though I don’t know why…

Fear the otakus, hai.

As Laura Kinsale explained, horses often become very good friends with animals of other species.  There is a fine portrait by George Stubbs of the racehorse Dungannon (a son of the legendary Eclipse) with his pet sheep, painted in 1793.  The stallion’s attachment to his sheep was well known.  Cats have lived in stables for centuries, and in that first video, the little pony is clearly not in the least buit troubled by his feline friend.

I would be interested to know just what people found ‘awful’ about the first video.  I find it more interesting than sweet (BE for ‘cute’), but I fail to see what is objectionable about it. Oh, the music was awful, but I just muted that.
