This is, of course, why I’m writing my first book about a Regency-era geek.  A real honest-to-god geek, not just some random Lord who gawks at scientific books for fun in between screwing chicks.

P.S.  “What what” in binary depends on the character set, of course.

The article really hit the nail on the head in this particular aspect: Geeks are, generally speaking, kinky, fun-loving, open-minded motherfuckers. Some of them get a late start in the sex stakes, sure, but man, they sure do catch up fast. Think about all that brainpower and creativity channeled towards sex. Woo hoo damn.

(Also, glasses are hotttttttt. As is braininess.)

How very timely!  I just had an email conversation with my sister about geek heroes.  Prompted by recently watching The Swiss Family Robinson on cable, we agreed that we find them quite attractive; often more attractive than the “typical” hero.  What was Roberta thinking, picking Fritz?  Ernst the geeky brother was clearly the better choice of the two.

Being one of those weirdos in SF that’s also dating an engineer geek, I feel like I vibrated through that entire article....Home Depot is their favorite adult store - yes, indeed.

I forgot to add - look at some of the terminology that’s used in computers.  Anyone who would come up with Master/slave directories definitely has a kinky mind.  (not to mention naming the little button at the bottom “submit")

oh yeah, i could totally go for a nerd/geek. i mean, i just reread SEP’s “Hot Stuff”, and dayum, Yank is hot! and then of course there are Vicki Lewis Thompson’s Geeks, who couldnt get any sexier if they tried. i liked this article!

But back to the topic at hand. Who’s your favorite Romance novel geek hero? Mine has gotta be Suzanne Brockmann’s Kenny Karmody.

Amen to that. I admit to being inexperienced in the fine art of you-know-what, but moving freely in the geek circles, I’ve seen that geeks are more attentive to detail and definitely more inventive. Not to mention the role-playing . . .

And the glasses. Oh, the glasses.

I’m married to a geek. A geek-turned-artist. Who just recently decided to get himself into shape. Which means that I am married to a brilliant, creative hottie. I hit the husband trifecta, and I originally wanted him for his brains.

I’ll raise a glass of Mountain Dew to geeks.

My favorite geek hero: Lucas Cortez, from Kelley Armstrong’s Dime Store Magic. A Sorcerer/lawyer geek, not a science geek, but adorable all the same.

Lucas Cortez, good one! And Paige in that series is a computer programmer, so there’s geeks all around.

Geeks make better lovers for one big Romance reason. If you do get your Happily-Ever-After, sooner or later time catches up with you. The body ages. But brains and imagination are permanent.

Twenty-five years and counting with the man of my dreams. The six-pack is no more. But his brains still work just fine.  ;-)

I LOVE geek heroes!

Well, my favorite geek Romance hero, and my favorite geek couple, are from Vicki Lewis Thompson’s My Nerdy Valentine, Will and Amanda.  He’s an accountant, she’s studying to become a psychologist.  They start geeky (if in a little denial about that), they stay geeky.  And I like that the problem with them getting together is that she’s Too Damn Busy, rather than some bizarre Big Misunderstanding.

Hottest geek hero, or co-hero actually, in a book ever: Stephen Maturin from the series starting with Master and Commander.  I’d have to spray him with some Lysol, though.

Haven’t read alot of geek books, but Kenny Karmody is my fav (Suzanne Brockman).

A personal dating guideline I follow when first meeting a potential datee; “at least one third must be nerd...” Yeah, that’s right, I like my fella to say “frak” and mean it. Nothing wrong with that.

I’m going to second on Maturin and root for him (though admittedly he’s not from Romance), but any recommendations in for other geek heroes would be very much appreciated. (Since a good characterization of one is so sadly hard to find...)
