Grrr...WTF? That blows. When is romance going to stop being the red-headed stepchild of literature and gain the respect it deserves? So irritating.
From Half Time Penalties
Hello! I’m back home, after two days at the Hotel L&D, where they give you percocet and take your blood pressure at 4am. Freebird and I are healthy and happy, and we’re about to embark on that most romantic of endeavors: first night at home with new baby.
WHOO!
Thank you for all your good wishes - and for all the advice, because a lot of it came in handy!
awwwwww, Freebird is so CUTE!
*mommy moment*
Congratulations, and mucho happiness for you.
YAYYYYY!
And again, for good measure: YAYYYYYY!
Welcome back, new mommy!
Awwwwww....
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww…
What a CUTIE. Doesn’t look anything like Wally Shawn (Most newborns do)
Good work!
Congratulations! He’s so cool! And he looks immensely wise. It’s that Buddha expression. I’ll bet he already knows HTML. Picked it up in the womb, probably.
Welcome back! Ready for more advice?
1. Sleep every chance you get. When the baby sleeps, you sleep. Forget the laundry, cooking, clothes, taking a shower--you need as much rest as you can squeeze in.
2. If you’re nursing, drink lots of fluids. Lots and lots of fluids. Even when you don’t feel thirsty.
3. My pediatrician was “old school” and recommended, for those who liked it, a glass of beer in the afternoon around 5 p.m. It served a number of purposes: The yeast in the beer helped milk production. The alcohol helped mommy get through the most stressful time of day (really). The tiny amount the baby got through the milk helped him relax too.
Enjoy these moments, they will go by faster than you realize!
Aw, cutie!
Congratulations!
Congratulations!!!
Can you even believe they let you walk out of the hospitial with such a helpless little creature? My dh and I kept waiting for someone to give us a test or at least ask if we were moderately competent. But no. Go on. You’re fine. You probably won’t accidentally kill him. We need your bed.
Congratulations Sarah & Freebird & new daddy!!
Our favorite thing was to take a warm, deep bath with the baby & watch them make “swimming” motions in the water. Of course, hubby also liked to zoom them back & forth & make what he claimed were ‘tugboat’ noises. Makes me smile remembering.
Treasure each moment. They grow sooo fast.
WTG, girl! What a lovely lady...and the baby’s cute, too.
Welcome home and congrats! Happy to hear Freebird, mommy and daddy are doing well.
Yay! Congrats!!!!
Whoa, what a cutie! Well done! Keep it up! ;)
Congratulations. :)
What an adorable baby. Congrats and enjoy your new family member!
Huge congratulations.
You have a beautiful little boy there.
Mommy and Daddy don’t look to shellshocked either. So far, so good. :-)
Congrats, Sarah! Not gonna give out any parenting advice because I have no freakin’ CLUE what I’m doing with my boys--ask anyone, I’m making this shit up as I go along. But you know what? They’re both still breathing, clean enough to take out in public most of the time, don’t have any cavities and no one’s called CPS on me yet, so I guess that’s okay. And if I can do it, ANYONE can do it. Babies are 50% cast iron and 50% rubber--you’ll do fine! I have faith in you!
And I also have the phone number to CPS! *ggg*
Only… the beer thing? Any parenting advice that involves alcohol is RIGHT ON. Go with that. Enjoy that adorable little boy!
He is beautiful, congratulations.
Enjoy every minute and sleep when he sleeps.
Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!! What a beautiful, sweet baby. You did good.
awwwwww he’s adorable!
but! we want the real dish.....
how mean were you to your husband and did you make him cry?
Congratulations! Not that you have time to read this. :)
Congratulations Sarah and Mr. Sarah. Welcome Freebird!
Love the picture where he’s already flipping off the world, he is most definitely a Smart Bitch’s baby!
Congratulations, Sarah! What a beautiful son you have! It brings it all back - they’re so tiny, and sweet, and perfect. I used to stand by the crib and stare in wonder. Now, I stand by their bed when they’re asleep and I still stare in wonder. They’re always your baby.
Congratulations! May he live a long, happy and healthy life!
Well done, Mom! Now get some rest!
Nothing like a happy family. Mazel tov!
Was I mean to Hubby? Nope! He was a champion, and when I was having pitocin-induced contractions one on top of another, and I said, “I want an epidural,” he said, “I want you to have the epidural because this sucks.”
He’s awesome, and is feeding Freebird right this minute. Freebird loves to stare at him, too, probably because Hubby has a beard, and also because he knows me already: “I lived in her. Who are you, dude?”
And I can do little but rest, sit on the sofa, and stare at him. Which is fine. I’m enjoying that part a LOT.
Congratulations to you and your whole family!
LFL
Congratulations! It’s a wonderful thing, and it goes by so quickly. Mine’s five and so self-sufficient, and I have no idea how he got that way.
Congrats! And Darlene’s got it right on 1 & 2. Don’t know about 3, though. I’ve never liked beer.
Congratulations. I hope you enjoy these early days with baby Freebird.
Sara--I wasn’t a beer lover either, so I substituted a glass of red wine and a yeast tablet each afternoon. Worked like a charm.[g]
Welcome back, Sarah! And many congratulations to you, husband and new small.
A very belated welcome back, and what a cuuuuuuute lil Freebird!!! :-)
