All right, kittens! Friday Personal Ad time! Guess the heroine’s name, the title of the book and the author correctly, and you get to have your very own Smart Bitch title.

Love In the Time of Bubonic Plague

Beautiful single shiksa, into herbology and folk medicine, looking for hot, progressive Jewish doctor for intense clandestine love encounters. Ability to differentiate between me and my identical twin sister definitely a plus. We have to keep our liaisons secret, though--my father’s betrothed me to a goy.

BED OF SPICES by Barbara Samuel? It’s the only one I could think that fits that blurb.

I mean, you have to provide the heroine’s name as well.

God I’m so brain-dead today.

Eek!? Frederica aka Rica.

Please don’t ask me for her surname because I don’t remember at all. Unless—am I allowed to google? :>

Hey, if I can’t remember her last name, I guess I can’t make you remember it either. I want to say “Der Esslingen” but fuck if I know that’s right.

Anyway, coronation ceremony coming up in, ohhhh, 45 minutes or so.

According to google, you’re right. Almost.  It’s “Frederica der Esslingen”. :>

Is A BED OF SPICES one of your favourite BS books?

Yes. That and Lucien’s Fall. I don’t normally go for the instant attraction, “ohhhh we are soulmates forever” sorts of books because it’s difficult to convince me that it’s more than just horniness, but these two books portray it really, really well. Barbara Samuel is a wonder.
