Courtesy of Michelle Styles here is a much longer profile of Ida and Louise Cook, who used profits from Ida’s Mills & Boon novels to rescue Jews from the Nazis. The Telegraph did an extended article about them last July.

Wow. I read every word and I have chills. Chills! That’s the coolest article I’ve ever read. And I don’t think either of the sisters were homely, at least not according to the accompanying picture.

Now I want to read We Followed Our Stars and some of Mary Burchell’s M&B titles.

Romance novels save the world yet again.

BTW, am I the only one who thinks “Righteous Gentile” could be a Presents title?  “The Greek Tycoon’s Righteous Gentile”; “The Righteous Gentile’s Virgin Bride”; “Taken By The Righteous Gentile"… it has so many possibilities, especially now that Sheiks have fallen out of vogue.
