  1. Sorry….

Was there something in the post after Nathan’s picture?

    [goes back to drool]

    he’s sure pretty 🙂

  2. Heh. Nathan does something like a zillion covers. Some are terrific, some are like, “What happened?” and some are…yikes. But seriously, he’s everywhere. Sort of reminds me of that old science fiction television series—maybe the original BG—where there was this planet in which all the men looked exactly alike and so did all the women. Could you imagine a planet full of Nathan?

  3. Lorelie says:

See now, that picture up top’s the best looking I’ve seen of Nathan Kamp.  Whenever I see him on covers, I have to admit I wince a little.  He has a (very) nice body but it’s like his face gets cro-magnon-ized somehow.

  4. Rhonda says:

Why don’t they just make the top picture be the cover? That one is…very artistically appealing. LOL I’m sure it would entice many readers to go out and purchase the book…

  5. katiebabs says:

I find him so “meh” even though those abs make me want to lean over and…

  6. SB Sarah says:

I’m particularly enamored of how her crown was Photoshopped off her head in the second cover, so now her cranium is lumpy.  Spherical but quite pointy at parts. Like Sputnik.

  7. ev says:

    “meh”

this was just added to the dictionary as a new word. link-http://www.lemondrop.com/2008/11/18/english-nerds-declare-new-words/?icid=200100397x1213800797x1200838076

so now her cranium is lumpy.

    Bad 80’s hairdo.

  8. ev says:

and at least she got to “change” her dress- he’s still wearing the same suit and shirt.

  9. Ah, Nathan.  He’s yummy, fer sure, but it’s becoming a bit Fabio-ish the way he’s on what seems to be 80% of romance covers!

  10. J.C. Wilder says:

You’re right Sarah – she has a mutant lump in her head. Maybe its so he can rest his arm there while she’s….well…you know.

  11. Silver James says:

    Okay. Nice abs but….

Am I the only one who agrees with “Murphy Brown” when she said, “I want a man who’s thighs are bigger than mine?”

Am I the only one who REMEMBERS “Murphy Brown?”

  12. Lorelie says:

I remember my mom watching Murphy Brown.  *g*

    *ducks whatever Silver throws*

  13. Jennifer C says:

    *giggles*

    That brightened my day.

I wonder, is this a new trend since photoshop?  Or in older bookcovers are we less likely to catch it?

  14. karmelrio says:

Leslie, your 80% figure might be more accurate that you know…

    He has a face?

Sort of reminds me of that old science fiction television series—maybe the original BG—where there was this planet in which all the men looked exactly alike and so did all the women.

It was Buck Rogers in the 25th Century.  I just saw the episode on Space last month, and it was a little creepy.  They all had to wear masks all the time to prevent insanity.

I remember Murphy Brown being a new, fresh show about an acoholic ace reporter, and I remember being puzzled at the time by the lack of pretty much anything resembling journalism being portrayed in the show.  Like, unless you were out in a jungle somewhere, drinking heavily, you couldn’t write the news.

  17. Venus Vaughn says:

how do they take someone SO HOT and make him look so milquetoasty?

  18. Jill Shalvis says:

Well the first picture made my morning.  In fact, I have no idea what the rest of the post was about, for me it was all about that picture.  🙂

  19. Marsha says:

Nathan Kamp is on my “list”.  You know, the one I have of people with whom I can have sex and my husband won’t get mad?  From what I understand, though, Mr. Kamp is not only hawter than hawt but he’s also happily married and observantly religious and so a consequences-free liasion is unlikely.  Still, as long as there’s even a scintilla of a possibility that his space on the list (my husband and I each have five spaces) is not wasted I’ll not replace him.  I’m loyal that way.

  20. Silver James says:

I remember my mom watching Murphy Brown.  *g*

    *ducks whatever Silver throws*

*throws a feather pillow at Lorelie* Hey, I’m older than dirt and I EARNED every one of these silver hairs on my chinny-chin…uhm…head.  LOL.

Wait. You mean because the show was about an alcoholic ace reporter, it was actually supposed to be about life in an actual newsroom? Not the artist/house painter who made a career of painting Murphy’s house? Or the different secretary each week? Or the snide and snarky comments the sarcastic Murphy flung at the world? *ducks*

  21. Sarah, at least it’s not like an orange on a toothpick, but I’m sure you’d be able to dig some of those covers up, too.

  22. darlynne says:

Am I the only one who REMEMBERS “Murphy Brown?”

I loved that show, Silver, and my hair proves I was around to watch every new episode. Don’t let these youngsters get to you. 🙂

  23. Randi says:

Wow, he is quite delicious. In his photo, not in the covers. It’s true though, that he is the current Fabio. It’s a shame because, well, there have GOT to be other good looking men out there.

I remember Murphy Brown, especially the bru-ha-ha that erupted when she decided to have a out-of-wedlock child (on the show, that is). ooooooooooooooo-teh skandal!

  24. Chloe says:

I feel like is the present Fabio… it is almost like overkill at this point.  He has what he has… but really… with all the out of work models/actors there is not ONE dark haired/dark eyed man out there that can compare… please!

    Let’s have some variety!

There was also a clone planet on the original BSG.

  26. Melissa says:

Remember when Dan Quayle held her up as an example of what was wrong with America?  Hellooooooooooooooooooooooo, fictional character here!  The producers found that so hilarious they used real newspaper headlines and sound bytes in the first couple of episodes after she gave birth to her son.

Damn, I wish more than just the first season of that show was out on DVD!

  27. GrowlyCub says:

I’m in the minority (of one?) here, but he don’t do a thing for me.  The negatives of pouting dark haired male cannot be overcome by abs.  And anyway, with abs like that a guy wouldn’t look twice at me.  That’s too damn stressful for me even for a fantasy! 🙂

I’m seriously tired to see him on every cover.  It’s gotten to the point where I think I already own a book and end up not buying one I don’t, because the covers are all him and all so similar.

Same with those off the shoulder frilly dresses on the females… and that seems to be the same one female too, so more covers that make you think you’ve already read the book.

Publishers are seriously lazy.  There always was a certain glomming on to similar book cover styles once one was determined to ‘work’ for the readers, but what’s going on now is just plain ridiculous.

    men48:  I wish…  I could do with 48 men worshiping me 🙂

  28. Lisa says:

We’re all so focused on the dress that nobody else noticed her wonky underbite?

  29. Annmarie says:

I have mad love for the first picture.  As to him being on covers everywhere… I had no idea.  I just realized I never look at a books cover.  Except when y’all post about one.  Otherwise, I just buy based on the back blurb.

  30. Kathsan says:

    Mmm . . . Nathan.

I know it’s just the scan, but in the first picture he seriously looks like a zombie about to eat her face.  There should be more zombie romance.  Vampires, sparkly or bhruthurs, are getting old.

  31. Renda says:

Put me in the who-actually-looks-at-covers group (group of two?).

I am always so impressed to see that y’all study them so carefully that you can tell which models are being used again and again.

I used to assume they were just random pics/drawings, sort of like a police artist, not that the artists actually depict the described hero/heroine.

husband46, he wishes he was still 46

  32. Wryhag says:

    the present Fabio

    BITE YOUR TONGUE!

Oh, gawd, you had to get me going.  You know, it’s his face that absolutely entrances me.  I hardly ever look lower than that.  (Well, maybe I’m being a tad disingenuous.)  To get my point, just look at the cover of Anna Campbell’s new book, which, by the way, I immediately put on my blog.  And there’s a whole drool-worthy portfolio on his agency’s site: http://www.model-book.com/nathan/flash/portfolio/index.htm—the shower pics are, well, not to be missed.

I’m supposed to write after this?

  33. amy lane says:

Hey—if I had a bucket of ‘young pretty hardbody’ I’d let him dump it on me in a hot second!

  34. Alisha Rai says:

I’m not usually an oblivious person, but I don’t think I realized this guy was approaching Fabio for covers (Fabio, I notice, because he’s so very…buttery? Whats the word I’m looking for?). I think Nathan, for all his sexiness, has a more generic, hot hero look to him, so maybe thats why he slipped under my radar.

So for all…three…of us, who can’t recall a single book we’ve seen this dude on, here’s a website, with a pretty impressive compilation of Nathan’s covers: http://ravensanctuary.blogspot.com

  35. wolfekelly says:

Put me in the who-actually-looks-at-covers group (group of two?).

    Make that three.

  36. Annmarie says:

I may be in the who-actually-looks-at-covers group of three but I love that other people DO look and bring to my attention all that I’d miss otherwise.  S’why I love this place so much.

I completely agree.  I love this site.  Thanks for all the laughs and the insight SmartBitches!
