I’m with Leah. There are some people you canNOT critique. If your friend is gonna get butthurt/insulted, or hate you, or ignore you, do not waste your time. The letter writer’s friend sounds like one of ‘em.
Examples…
Well, folks, seems like Bookaza and its two mirror sites were finally shut down for good. Darlene Marshall copied the message they had on one of their sites. I’m re-posting it here, because it’s freakin’ hilarious:
Remeber, a coin always have two sides.
At one side, stealing from publishers is bad. At other side, we helped hundreds of people who cannot afford to pay up to $100 for a book. We make those people happy, understand it? As for our profit, some of money we earned, we send to Zimbabwe children help fund. We think publishers are reach enought already, and those money we’ve “stolen” maybe saved somebody’s life. And we could save even more lives, but say thanks to outstanding hecker and his “brave” team.
God will judge you.
with best regards, bookaza team
ps: meet you in a couple of days, hasta la vista!
pps: mafia’s immortal
ppps: sorry for poor english (:
pppps: look! you have won guys! So how is it - the taste of victory? =))
Wait: $100 for a book? What kind of crack were these people smoking? Whatever it is, they need to have a word with their dealer.
And God will judge me--IF THERE WAS A GOD, BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Love,
Uppity Godless Chink, enjoying the sweet, sweet taste of victory indeed.
At one side stealing from publishers is bad>
Yaaaaay, those illiterate bas-retards are forced out of bizness! You did good.
bwa-hahhh-haaaaah too!
(:
I’m impressed: they even spelt a smilie wrong.
I know, I know. Correcting spelling and/or grammar is a cheap shot but sometimes it’s just impossible to resist.
Ohhhh....I get it. They were the Robin Hood/Superman of the literary world. And it was all for CHARITY. It’s not like they profited at all. It was for the good of the people. They save LIVES.
I feel ever so bad now.
Everytime I look at their message I get “All Your Base Are Belong To Us” stuck in my head.
Oh no, Darlene, don’t even get started with that! Before long I’ll have to go look up that damn flash thingie and everything.
I have vague memories of that. And “The Tower is the Players”
Somebody set them up the bomb.
Yeah. I love how they throw the pathos guilt out there as a last hurrah as their theiving bastardy was shut the hell down.
Wankers.
I’m enjoying my taste of victory with iced coffee, thanks. It tastes great!
Somebody set them up the bomb.
WHAT YOU SAY!!
If I were still teaching, I’d use this letter to teach about logical fallacies.
It was good for a laugh this morning, though.
Shame on you for preventing them from donating to charity! I bet they sent at least a penny for every $100 they made.
As for the “God will judge you”?
Yes, he will. And He will say what you’ve done to stop this crook is good.
Alyssa
Y’know, that “God will judge you” bit struck me as one of the funniest parts too. Can’t think of a single religion in which God endorses stealing.
Maybe the religion those televangalists perpetuate-- The Church of Give-Or-God-Will-Smite-you.
Yeah, the publishers are rich enough already. And presumably writers are, too. *eye roll* Does anybody believe they gave the money to charity?
Glad to hear they’re shut down.
Dammit. Now I’ve got the AYB song stuck in my head.
I’m rich? How come nobody told me?
yay! Thieving asshats. And who’s paying $100.00 for a romance novel? I want in on that deal.
Oh, and this is off-topic but I hope you won’t mind. History_Spork has a new entry out. This time the four historians have a go at the movie Troy. Take a look. It’s hilarious.

I read that, it’s a riot.
Oh, and I noticed that apparently the address the jerkoffs listed was stolen from an innocent couple. So don’t send any hate mail there.
It’s in my head, too. God, I love that.
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!
The intrepid bitches have saved the literary world again! I think spandex are in order (also, because I’m kinky like that).
what a bunch of bullshit.
