From the accounting firm of My Pen and My Pad of Paper come the official results: the winner of the Ultimate Hero Gary Farber contest is Meredith for her entry about Gary - I mean, Ghery Fahrber. Nothing beats a good Ward parody. Even the email votes I received in my inbox were typed by hands still shaky after a full-body laugh at the idea of “speaking homie like a pro.”
Honorable mention goes to the many-layered and so-full-of-literary-references entry #8, by Shari. The towel reference nearly choked me. Mad props to you for that one.

I feel so honored. Thank you all...I had so much fun writing it. I’m an avid romance reader, and only write fiction--entirely for fun--once a year, for National Novel Writing Month (I’m a liasion for the Naperville, Illinois group), so I’m very flattered that I won!
I do give a lot of credit to JR Ward because, despite the fact that any big white guy speaking urban slang usually sounds very, very wrong, she does do a better job at making it convincing than many other authors (Hmm...L.A. Banks, anyone? *Shudder*).
I don’t update my livejournal as often as I want to (mostly because of 1. work and 2. life getting in the way) but I did do a review of Lover Revealed, if you’re interested.

I was laughing so hard my husband came over to read what I was looking at. Then, of course, I had to explain the Ward books to him to explain why it was even funnier.
Just curious - but is that the first male SBTB title?
To the best of my knowledge, yes, that is the first male title, though I am sometimes unsure of the gender behind some of the usernames. This is, I believe, the first male peerage title we’ve made, however.
Rockhardbotham’s dance card will be a sought-after item, to be sure, at the next Peerage Ball, what with all these women and only one dude.
It’s just like Smurfette, only...reversed. Heh.
Gratz to Meredith--the Ghery Fharbher thing made me laugh until I thought I was going to come undone. Literally.
