Evanovich/Cannell Update

I hit Newark Airport and turned on my phone to find an email from a book buyer for a Big Huge Honking Store. The email confirms that according to this buyer’s source at Hachette, the Evanovich/Cannell novel No Chance has ‘no chance’ of being published. The book has been canceled with no date for rescheduling.

Whoa. Dude. Wonder what happened? People who were looking forward to that book are going to be mighty bummed out.

UPDATED TO ADD:

Sarah at MediaBistro’s GalleyCat got the confirmation from Janet Evanovich, who cited scheduling problems. They still have an active partnership, says Evanovich, which should certainly soothe those who were looking forward to this book.

I am SOOOO glad I hadn’t ordered this for work yet.  So, so, so glad.  I hate when this happens.  It tends to annoy library patrons.

Nice to see both of you ladies in person.  I don’t know about you guys, but I’m just wasted today.  And I work tomorrow.  What the heck was I thinking?

    How sad, and really weird.

  3. Mitzi Flyte says:

Maybe the publisher thought Evanovich was writing the book with Steve CARRELL.

Seriously – too bad. I did see Janet at MWA in April and at that time she was still talking about it.

What about the multi-book deal she had to write with Leanne Banks?

  5. That sucks!  I was really looking forward to this book.  I hope they are able to pull it off sometime in the near future.

  6. Karmyn says:

That is terrible, even if her latest stuff hasn’t been that great. I couldn’t even bring myself to finish her latest Stephanie Plum or even get interested in her other series. Maybe she just needs to take a break. She’s got a lot going on lately with all her different series and her daughter getting married.

  7. Jenny Crusie says:

    Collaboration is hard.  Really.
