Moreena wrote in with an update that made my day. I can’t even tell you how awesome I think you guys are. Srsly. Y’a’ll Rule.
...we went to the Kohl’s House a few weeks back, and they were thrilled with the response they got from your readers. Let’s just say I almost miss being at the place, just for the fun bookshelf that now stands by the first-floor elevator. Also, one of your readers sent in VCR-DVD combos so that every floor can play the old VHS movies, which is a real bonus since the man who donated all those VHS movies had some rare gems (like Penelope Pitstop! Hay-yulp!). So a great big huge thank you to you for getting the word out, and to your readers for helping out.
Happy New Year and thank you to the wonderous Bitchery. And Moreena, may your daughter’s new liver fall totally in love with the rest of her metabolic system like a Greek Tycoon with his virgin secretary, minus the punishing kisses, of course.

Head on over to DearAuthor.com tonight at 9 EST/8CST for another Saturday Night Live-Blog where Jane and I face off and simultaneously read and discuss a romance. Tonight’s book is a m/m short story - we’ve decided short stories and novellas work best for the format - Custom Ride by K.A. Mitchell.
Joining us will be two additional readers: Jane’s friend Jawk and Jace, who will also be reading along and commenting to give us an allegedly authentic gay male perspective. I presume they are actually (a) male and (b) gay, since they’ll be with Jane and I’ll be far far away. I mean, she could be making the whole thing up and Jawk and Jace are actually 4’ tall screaming purple teddy bears from the state fair won during a scurrilous battle of carnival ring toss, but for now I’ll believe her. If you can’t trust romance novel review bloggers, then for God’s sake who can you trust?
Read along with us if you like - we’ll be cracking open the book, the bottles of wine (I will anyway), and the read-along hilarity over at Jane’s place around 9pm.

Contest winner Midknyt sent me the most marvelous links to her pictures and blog entry. I’m not even sure how to adequately communicate the level of jaw-dropping awesome that is her visual travel diary, but holy peencakes, Batman.
There is a park in South Korea that is chock-full of penises. Everywhere you look: peen!
Haesindang Park in Korea, which, as Midknyt notes is a rather conservative culture, is a celebration and tribute to the erect phallus. Legend tells of a man who lost his fiance to the ocean, and her spirit ruined the fishing industry, so the village erected giant honking huge wooden dongs all over the place to appease her bitter, angry, presumably virginal self. The fishing improved, and to this day, sayeth Midknyt, the townspeople offer phalluses on the first full moon of the lunar year.
The pictures are worth their weight in peen. If I could mount an international book tour, I’d be so stopping in South Korea just for the peen park. And the beach is beautiful, too. Not to mention the Sex Education Theme Park, Love Land on Jeju Island.

This guy loves titties and he wants to tell you allllll about it.
And if that wasn’t enough, bring on the Tales of Ribaldry from classic SNL. Ignore the current Mel Gibson anti-Semitic whackjob and enjoy older Gibson, if you can, before we knew he was bugshit barmy.
A website that reviews romance novels from a couple of smart bitches who will always give it to you straight. No bullshit. No gushing--unless the author really deserves it.
I’ll have to go with a recipe for Chipotle Buffalo Chili that I learned to make from a cooking class I took a couple of years ago in San Francisco. Mmmmmm.
Yup, bullshit. I’d be willing to accept his excuse if he said that he found it on his harddrive and couldn’t remember whether he wrote it or not. I know that happened to me, though only with little pieces of…
I don’t cook much - that’s the husband’s job, and he’s damned good at it. But I do bake and am excellent at party food. My chocolate chip cookies are legendary. The recipe I use is a simple one, from…
I adore cooking. I make it a point to try and cook something yummy every day. And when I travel, I try to pick up a bit of the local cuisine from a good cook and of course, other foodies…
