  1. Barbara says:

Small dog, small dog!  How many dogs are there?

Funny!  I’d be hammered in twenty minutes, I think.

  2. Fun!  Thanks for sharing.

  3. I happen to own all of the extra *long* BBC productions of Jane Austen’s works! They are right – I’d never make it through Pride and Prejudice! LOL

  4. quichepup says:

LOL I had to post this on facebook. Am I correct in guessing this is the new BBC version?

Womanly skillz! I has them. Not.

my word living46 That’s creepy because I turned 46 yesterday and am still living

  5. lizzie(greeneyedfem) says:

From the video, it looks like use of the words “esteem and/or regard” also means a drink. (I just want to be clear on all the rules before I bust out my DVDs. 🙂

I also think “silent, longing gaze from male character” would be worth a drink or two, at least.

  6. First One says:

LOL! Thanks for the entertainment to set my wknd off right! Headed off to Miami and taking a nice Romance novel along for the journey…

Love Chase!! You can get it at the website I posted or here: lishing.com/index.php/ebooks!

    Happy wknd…

  7. Elise Logan says:

Excellent! I will hie to London forthwith (thus displaying random equestrianism) and recite poetry while petting my small dogs and listening to the pianoforte. With my inadequate dowry.

This is great fun. Thanks for sharing.

  8. Donna says:

Where was this last weekend when I popped “Sense & Sensibility” into the DVD player?  At least “Mansfield Park”  will be a lot more fun tonight.

  9. Carrie S says:

OMG, the rest of my days I’ll be yelling, “small dog!  small dog!”  I’d like to propose that scenes of emotional intensity in the rain require chugging.  This is the funnies thing ever.

  10. Jenn3128 says:

@Carrie, I totally agree, I’ll be chugging to emotional intensity in the rain!

  11. EbonyMcKenna says:

Does a coffee spit qualify as ‘loss of countenance’?

This is almost as dangerous as the Eurovision Song Contest drinking game!

  12. velocireader says:

We are SO doing this at my next book club.

  13. Emily says:

With a video like this, I could totally see “Stupid Bitches, Literary Books” as a reality.
    Also I like small dogs.

  14. meganhwa says:

thank you for posting that – i’ve had to share it with friends. funnily enough my flatmates and i watched the new sense and sensibility last weekend. if only we had know we too could have drunk at random displays of equestrianism (and not carriage scenes, obviously) and small dogs (though i don’t recall that many small dogs in that version)

  15. Cynara says:

I actually created my own many years ago for the BBC P&P miniseries.  I mostly drank water, because I used it to while away sick days.  As I recall, it went at least partially like this:

    One drink:
The Bingley sisters say something cruel
    Mrs. Bennett says something vulgar
    Mr. Darcy broods at Elizabeth…

    Two drinks
    ..across a room…

    Three drinks
    …or out a window…

    Four drinks
…while a Bingley sister says something cruel.
